shower shit and shouting-early morning ramblings & arguments with c&g

c:”do you believe in the divine?”

g:” like God?”

c: “yeah…”

g: “i usually think about the god, the trinity of the abraham religions, on tuesdays”

c: “what do you think about them on tuesdays?”

g: “i think it all sounds swell, but it’s not my bag”

c: “so you don’t believe in the divine?”

g: “i believe in a lot of things that are divine:

cheese (a really good cheese)

south america

old people

punk rock

i think the definition of divine needs to be adjusted a bit….”

c: “so you are not religious?”

g: “i am super religious”

c: “what religion are you?”

g: “there are variations and evolutions, like everything else in life…”

c: “do you have an answer or are you just full of shit?”

g: “i have a full of shit answer…an accurate description agnostic humanist neo-pagan polytheist pantheist tree-huggin flower-smellin fairy”

c: “you are gay”

g: “true”

c: “don’t you think that is a crime against nature?”

g: “i think concrete is a crime against nature”

c: “that doesn’t answer the question…”

g: “of course it does, but i will rephrase:

no i don’t think being gay is an unnatural state of being, obviously it isn’t unnatural for me seeing as how i am gayly gay.  there are many people who use pieces of religious doctrine to criminalize queerness, but it is usually taken out of context and reworded.  as far as i am concerned, those people are looking for justification to be criminals and they have bucketfuls of unhappiness to carry around, so they are trying to lighten their load by throwing some of the content on others.  scientists have studied critters in the wild, and have found that there are animals who mate with members of the same sex.  for some of these it is a matter of dominance, but for a majority, they have found, it is about comfort and is the animal’s preference.  the wild beast category with the most gay members is the dragonfly, now maybe i am not giving the dragonfly enough credit, but i have never seen one put much forethought into their actions.  so if a dragonfly acts on instinct, primarily, how can it act contrary to nature?  therefore, how can being gay be unnatural?”

c: “are you a feminist?”

g: “yup, independently”

c: “do you hate men?”

g: “no”

c: “isn’t that a part of feminism?”

g: “not at all.  feminism is a celebration of the feminine, carving a new space for women.  for quite awhile in many mainstream societies women were/are a lower caste then the masculine, making room for women in that system doesn’t mean putting men in the lower system while the female occupies the upper, it is more about taking the platform away therefore breaking apart the caste system altogether.  history has shown over and over again, when power is taken from one and given to another, it is an illusion and at some point that power goes away, but when we empower ourselves from within looking inward for validation, that is an eternal truth.”

c: “what about transwomen?  there are alot of people who think they have no place in feminism”

g: “the idea of elitism is contrary to egalitarian culture, putting more boundaries/dress-codes/criteria in place is the opposite of opening doors to a truly equal society, which is what feminism was/is supposed to be about.  i think it is disgraceful to demand equality, but equality only for ‘women’ and definitely only for ‘these women’!  if we lock out men and transgender peoples today, who is locked out tomorrow and where will it stop?  when i see a movement denying others’ access, denying others’ even the right to voice support, i do not see a movement for civil rights, i see a movement to make the persons of power look different than those in power currently-it’s simply a changing of the guard.  i have always called myself a feminist, but i can’t get on board with many of the philosophies that are held by groups and leaders and the upper-crust of the movement.  the thing is, some people are cool and some people suck and there is no exterior indicator.  so fuck a movement that closes it’s doors to anyone other than __________ because human rights aren’t carnival rides.”

“it’s been great seeing you again, but i really must run along now!!!  the conversation was delightful as always-i always learn so much about me when talking to me….i hope i am home the next time i stop in!”

pussy riot members to be freed

pussy riot members to be freed

this is the best news i have heard all day, maybe all week!  pussy riot’s feminist, punk, political music spoke out against russian president putin, the russian orthodox church and in favor of human rights.  pussy riot was known for it’s guerilla performances decending on locations and handing out “pure protest, saying: super heroes in balaclavas and acid bright tights seize public space in Moscow.” pussy riot member gazeta ru stated in an interview.   nadezhda tolokonnikova and maria alyokhina will be released from prison soon!  they were both arrested and imprisoned for hooliganism when their band pussy riot filmed a video in moscow’s cathedral of christ the savior orthodox church.  they were arrested on march 3, 2012 and convicted august 17, 2012 and sentenced to 2 years each.  nadya has been very vocal about injustice within the prison system and just recently was moved to a siberian prison camp after a hunger strike pointing out the horrible working conditions of the prison camp she was in.  she had been lost in transit from the penal colony ik-14 to the siberian colony for almost a month.

united nations declaration of human rights-illustrated version done by zen pencils

united nations declaration of human rights-illustrated version done by zen pencils

i have read the united nations declaration of human rights many many times. eleanor roosevelt helped draft it in 1948. it seems simple enough- ppl have the right to live wo oppression of any sort. although, we say we are the land of the free home of the brave blah blah blah we are not holding true to these values-not at all! former president bushy 2 has teamed up with the ceo of nestle, buying water rights throughout south america, denying ppl access to their only water source, all the while saying that water is not a basic human right. we have the nsa cataloging ppls who are peaceful ppls but support those who are being oppressed on the us tax dollar in palestine. we have cops using unnecessary force against protestors-in the occupy movement, in the idle no more movement, against many members of earth first, and against individuals who stand up and say “you are unlawfully touching me. i don’t consent to being searched.” at every turn the basic human rights of ppls are being denied. this is unacceptable!
i am very happy to see this beautiful document in illustrated form. the main reason is to make it accessible to all ppls, the written document is a bit long and drawn out and that can intimidate some ppl. also, i think it brings home the punch of where these basic rights are being denied, even within the country who provides the most money, resources and man power to the un.

transgirl who has been targetted by ex-gay group, the group spreading intentional lies and falsehoods

transgirl who has been targetted by ex-gay group, the group spreading intentional lies and falsehoods

i can not even begin to understand how this family is dealing with these issues!  i am sickened that anyone would use children in such a malicious slanderous way!  this poor girl just went to school and wanted to be treated like everyone else.  where is the crime in that?  transkids go through enough struggling w identity, body image issues and depression.  they are generally harassed by other students, called names. and made to be their own allies.  thankfully this girl has a strong loving family who has been supportive, and has been treated decently for the most part by her peer group, but the media and anti-gay groups had no idea what her situation was, they attacked with venom and hatred!  this leaves young transppl open to depression and other problems stemming out of rejection-drugs, alcohol, self harming behavior, suicide,  i cannot image waking up and my children’s faces on the news while a reporter spews lies and filth!  i am sure i wouldn’t take it as well as this family has.  i hope this girl is ok.  i hope from the bottom of my heart that she and her family find peace they so desperately deserve!!!

human needs as commodities according to capitalism

artist-Stephanie McMillan

artist-Stephanie McMillan

this is supposed to be humorous, but in fact it is very very real! the ceo/headpig of nestle along w former president bushy 2 have bought up the fresh water sources in a few countries in central and south america. they have paid militant groups to surround the water in order to keep the ppls of the areas out of their investment. if the person cannot pay for the water, they cannot have the water. these water sources are essential for life to many communities, mostly poor communities, in which the ppls are not able to afford the cost set by the american entrepreneurs. they have justified this act by saying that water is a commodity and not a human right. this goes against the declaration of human rights drafted by the united nations. eleanor roosevelt was one of the main contributors of the declaration.
i would encourage everyone to read this document in it’s entirety. i also encourage everyone to speak up when these basic human rights are being denied to any human being on the planet!
